Sammy's First Week Back at School Work

Sam's class have been studying dinosaurs this month and yesterday he came home with a "Paleontologist Journal." He was supposed to measure something with a paper dinosaur tooth and see how many teeth tall it was. Well, Sam was very excited about it and he measured 4 things! I had to stop him there, because he would have done more! Then he had to write a sentence and draw a picture describing what he wrote. He wrote, "I measured my mom, my bunk bed and my dogs. Murphy was 3 teeth tall. Otis was 1 tooth tall. My mom was 6 teeth tall. My bunk bed was 7 teeth tall." He drew a detailed picture of it too. I am so mad I didn't think to scan it because he worked sooooo hard on it and he did a great job!

Tonight we had to make a dinosaur sock puppet. Sam wanted to make a T-Rex. We have been thinking about how we would tackle this project for the entire week. We decided on a green argyle sock, google eyes, pipe cleaner arms and felt teeth and tongue.
Here are our materials laid out...
Here is Sammy with his Dino... very happy. :)
JT and Sammy. We asked JT if he wanted to make one and he said, "No." He enjoyed Sam's finished product.
Sam's Dino biting JT's nose!
ROAR!
The finished product...
The only argyle socks they had were knee highs so we decided to cut a hole in the middle and give his T-Rex a tail (what was I thinking!!?) It actually turned out pretty good for our first attempt at sock puppets!

Today, Sam came home with a letter to Mom and Dad. He wrote it all by himself at school. He is really doing well with his reading and writing. It is amazing to see! It also freaks me out a bit... My baby is getting TOO big!
That has been Sammy's first week back at school. :)
